I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THIS SONG BUT THE STORY RING A SENTIMENTAL TONE FOR MY BROTHER WAS NOT FROM MY MOTHER NOR WAS HE A LOVER BUT WE'VE KNOWN EACH OTHER FROM THE LATE 70S AND THIS REPRESENTS THE LOSS OF THE MEMORIES OF GOOD TIMES
Dearest friends,
On Dec 22 2025 at about 5:45 pm ,my brother from another mother joined the Heavenly Jazz Band. Lonnie Caver was an extraordinary musician; a composer, drummer, pianist, and vocalist. Among his many gifts was the ability to sing several notes simultaneously. He was an early bloomer and performed with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Kenny Kirkland, and others.
I'm sorry to report that he passed this week after a long fight with end-stage heart and eventually kidney failure. He was estranged from his family and had been taking care of an ill roommate until he himself succumbed.
This GoFundMe is being constructed to assist with his final disposition. The estrangement is making it impossible for direct cremation, leaving a burial or donation to science as the only options. The state or city does not handle these tasks; they fall upon the family or friends. His remains are in the mortuary at Bellevue for 11 days after the passing unless asked for an extension. I would not like for my friend to go to Potter's Field.
In these last few months, I was tasked with the title of healthcare proxy and removal of his property and storage, which will incur ongoing fees as well. He had two box trucks full of equipment which were kindly removed by a family friend. Please consider a donation. I realize this is the holiday season and everyone is feeling the pinch.
If I cannot reach the goal for a funeral the funds will be used for a memorial and to pay for a brief storage time extension.
Regretfully
Kim Clarke
