Update 4/29/2017
Donations stopped 2 months ago, then last week they suddenly restarted. I don't know what happened (did someone post a link recently?), but thanks so much for honoring my brother. I just raised the goal to allow more donations (the funeral cost was much higher).
Update 1/12/2017
Mom and dad were forced to borrow money because we did not raise the money in time. This fundraiser will stay open to help them with the repayments, and also to pay for John's tombstone, which we don't have yet. (See the "Updates" section)
------------------
My brother, John Cristobal, used his life savings to pay for medical bills and college. He had no money left for his funeral and burial, which was his wish. Our family can't afford it.
John had no income because he couldn't work, because he was a cancer patient while being a full-time student.
He was diagnosed in 2012 and was laid off from his job later that year. In 2013, he was cured. He couldn't find employment and he enrolled in grad school in 2014. In 2015, while a student, the cancer came back.
Four months after he graduated, he passed away on Christmas Eve 2016.
100% of the donations will go to John's funeral, burial, and cemetery costs. He did not wish to be cremated. Our mom and dad have financial struggles of their own, and now, they lost a son and can't afford to give him the memorial he wanted.
Anything you give will be appreciated. You can also help by sharing this page because the more it gets shared, the more likely it will be seen by people who can donate. Please, it costs you nothing to share it with Facebook friends. And it would make our grief less painful.
Thanks for reading and happy new year.
