A Ray of Hope for Debbie
Donation protected
About a month ago, Lynnette and Alex discovered Lynnette's mom Debbie, had fallen in the kitchen after a gas leak. She has a T1/T2 compression fracture, a wound on her lower back, and has dropped to 79 pounds leaving most of her muscles in various stages of atrophy. The gas leak, chronic dehydration, and malnutrition has led to a level of confusion that will take time to sort itself out. After a short stay in the hospital, Debbie was discharged under confusing circumstances, including a possible infected Sacral Ulcer and a surgical procedure that is supposed to stabilize a crack in her pelvis. She is currently in inpatient rehab to rebuild her muscles in order to walk again.
Debbie's current home needs to be updated to make it more accessible. She needs a new stove and the bathroom needs to be remodeled to replace the tub with a step-in shower. The house also needs a front door that isn't heavy and a ramp leading up to it. Lynnette is trying to handle these changes, as well as medical bills, hospital expenses, and family illness.
Lynnette and I grew up together, and I know that both Debbie and Lynnette are caring, kind, and compassionate people. If the roles were reversed, they would offer to help in any way possible. Please consider donating anything you can to help a wonderful person live in a safe and accessible home.
