A Ray of Hope for Amber Liebler (Cancer, Myeloma)
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and caring individuals,
I am reaching out to you today on behalf of Amber Liebler, my mother, who has been courageously battling multiple myeloma, a form of bone/blood cancer. She has shown incredible strength, but the medical journey comes with significant challenges. While I've been advised to keep this brief, I believe the details are important for you all to understand her hardships, struggles, and the profound compassion she possesses. I sincerely encourage you to explore her story further...
At 62years old, Amber was diagnosed with an aggressive form of high risk multi myeloma cancer, with extensive bone marrow involvement and countless lytic lesions. Without any forewarning or symptoms, it came upon her suddenly. It has taken over 80% of her bone marrow, caused numerous lesions/holes in her skull, and she has had to have many blood and platelet transfusions. Despite the trials she has faced, Amber has exhibited remarkable courage throughout this arduous journey. She is being treated weekly and aggressively by her Halifax Oncologists and the Mayo Clinic. During this treatment she has over come many obstacles, some even unrelated to the cancer specifically. While undergoing her initial bone biopsy for cancer diagnosis, she was excessively sedated, leading to cardiac arrest and requiring CPR for resuscitation. Her resilience and courage to keep fighting throughout this endeavor is truly admirable.
Why We Need Your Help:
Unfortunately, the cost of medical treatments, medications, and other associated expenses has placed a heavy burden on Amber and her family. In these trying times, we are reaching out to our community, seeking your support to alleviate some of the financial stress that accompanies such a challenging health journey.
She is being denied coverage by her insurance for the majority of her visits and treatments. They even declined to cover expenses when the hospital over sedated her, causing cardiac arrest that required a two week recovery. Our goal is to ensure that Amber can focus on her health without the added stress of financial worries.
We are seeking both present and future assistance. She will maintain her ongoing weekly chemotherapy sessions until spring of next year when she will require a bone marrow transplant. This procedure will require her to stay at the Mayo Clinic and hospital for five weeks. The effects of this illness are devastating to her physically, emotionally, and financially. Because of the illness Amber has not been able to return to work.
How Funds Will Be Used:
- Covering past and future medical expenses, including treatments, tests, and medications.
- Supporting daily living expenses during this challenging period. (Due to her lose of work)
*(We can provide monthly updates on expenses throughout this journey to transparently show how your donations are being utilized.)
Our Fundraising Goal:
We aspire to reach a fundraising goal of $100,000. I want to emphasize that this target shouldn't deter anyone from contributing. Any and all donations are immensely appreciated. At the time of writing this, the existing hospital expenses alone exceed $80,000, and this doesn't even account for the costs associated with the Mayo Clinic and bone marrow transplant scheduled for spring next year. This goal is to ensure that she can focus on her health without the added stress of financial worries. We sincerely appreciate every donation, regardless of its size, with heartfelt gratitude.
You can help in the following ways:
- Donate: Any and all donations are appreciated.
- Share: Spread the word on social media, email, and word of mouth. Sharing this page with your family, friends, or colleagues.
- Pray/Support: Your positive thoughts and prayers are also immensely appreciated.
*(If you have other ideas, we are happy to hear them as well. We are here even if you want to share a similar experience you have had in your lives.)
More about Amber:
At the age of 62, Amber is a mother to three children and grandmother to three. Devoting the majority of her life to her family, Amber's nurturing and kind spirit have served as the inspiration for us children to follow her example. Additionally, she lives and cares for her 88 year old mother, who is battling stage 4 kidney disease. We all love Amber because she inspires so many children and others in our community to be their best. She has worked for the school districts in Pennsylvania and Florida (Volusia County) for 23 years. She has always been in the role of looking after others, working in the cafeteria, school bus driver, an extended day facilitator, and currently as an employment adviser for the ESE department, where Amber has assisted young adults in developing job skills at Halifax Hospital to secure employment opportunities. Amber has been instrumental in guiding students through the process of acquiring job skills. During her initial two years as an employment adviser in the ESE department, with the dedication of her students, they successfully secured employment positions for all her students. She additionally served as a life skills coach for clients with special needs across various age groups. Everyone that has had the privilege to know Amber can tell that she is truly one of a kind. She is deeply kind and empathetic. She has lived her life devoted to her family and the ones around her, consistently placing the well being of others ahead of herself.
She now needs all your help to navigate this challenging road ahead, both today and in the days to come. Thank you for joining her in this fight.
We will be posting weekly updates and pictures to keep you all informed on her road to recovery.
