A Race Against Time: Help Ali Win His Battle with Leukaemia – Require Bone Marrow Transplant
Our Family’s Story
My name is Asif Aslam, and I am writing this with a heavy heart on behalf of my brother, Asim Aslam, and his young son, my nephew Ali.
My brother lives and works in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he has been raising his family with hope and dedication. But on November 8, their lives were shattered. What started as a routine doctor’s visit for Ali due to a fever and chest pain turned into every parent’s worst nightmare: a diagnosis of Mixed Phenotype Acute Leukaemia (MPAL) with (Ph+) - a rare, aggressive, and complex form of blood cancer. In an instant, Ali went from a vibrant young boy to a patient fighting for his life.
The Boy Behind the Diagnosis
Before the hospital walls became his world, Ali was a shining light in his classroom. He is a remarkably bright student who truly loves learning. If you see him now, he is likely clutching a book; his love of reading keeps his spirit alive during long hospital stays. He misses his school, his friends, and the simple joy of being a student. Every day, he asks when he can go back to his books and his desk. We want to give him that future back.
Hope is Within Reach: A Critical Medical Update
Ali is a fighter, and the latest medical results have given us a massive reason to hope. After just one month of intensive induction chemotherapy, doctors have successfully managed to get his MRD (Minimal Residual Disease) to Negative. This means the cancer is currently undetectable, providing the perfect window for a successful transplant.
Furthermore, we have received the miraculous news that Ali has a 100% matching donor: his younger brother. The path to a cure is laid out before us, but we are blocked by a financial wall.
A Cruel Financial Deadlock
We have exhausted every official avenue available to us:
- Insurance Limits: The family’s insurance (Bupa Arabia) covered the initial treatments but has formally declined the Bone Marrow Transplant, stating it exceeds the policy limits.
- Ministry of Health: We applied to the Ministry of Health for aid, but because the family are Pakistani nationals and not Saudi citizens, the application for a medical grant was denied.
The Medical Board at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre has been clear: a Bone Marrow Transplant is the only definitive cure left for Ali.
I am running this campaign to support my brother and my nephew in their darkest hour. The cost of a Bone Marrow Transplant is monumental - it is a sum no hardworking father can produce on his own.
How Your Support Saves Ali
We are seeking to raise the funds necessary to cover the BMT at KFSH&RC in Riyadh. Your donation will go directly towards:
- The Bone Marrow Transplant procedure.
- Pre-transplant conditioning and specialised post-operative care.
- Life-saving medications are required to ensure his body accepts the transplant.
Ali has the intellect to change the world and the spirit to fight this disease - he needs the chance.
