Hiya, we're a queer couple with 2 cats who need to escape Florida and need help with moving expenses. I'm a mentally ill autistic woman with a part time remote job, but can't hold more hours. My husband is a trans person with a full time remote job, so fortunately we can stay employed out of state. Unfortunately with mounting bills and the soaring cost of living we need some extra help with being able to move.

EDIT JAN 2024: We also been subjected to growing dental bills and now medical bills with me needing physiotherapy and treatment for spinal issues including degenerative disc disease and arthritis in the spine.

For those who don't know, Florida's governor, Ron DeSantis, has targeted the LGBT+ community and the state is getting more hostile. Terrible legislation has been passed targeting the community with bills like 'Don't Say Gay', and especially targets trans people, like restricting access to healthcare, and bathrooms. On top of this, the two of us are affected by the ban on abortions beyond 6 weeks. Taking away so many of our rights has made this state unlivable.

We plan to move in mid 2024 when our lease is up, as we can't break it without dire consequences. The goal is to cover moving costs, gas, pet friendly hotels, and any other expenses/fees when applying for an apartment in our new area.

Below is an additional map by Erin Reed to show what places are the most and least hostile towards trans people, as you can see Florida is one of the worst. With your help, we can move to one of the safer dark blue states in 2024.
