This is how u thank a PTSD Vet for his service
My name is Petty officer 3rd class Nobles and I am a US Navy PTSD Combate War Veteran. I served in the
military for several years. I served in the Persian Gulf War honorably saving both civilian and military lives daily.
In 2017, after being homeless for a year, I was able to purchase my home. Unknowingly, I closed on my
home not knowing that, because I was a Navy Vet, I was excluded from paying property tax, but the
Lender I used refused to acknowledge my military
exclusion and took me to court for non-payment of
property tax.
In order to save my home and not be homeless again, I filed for bankruptcy and got a lawyer to take my
case. He has been fighting the lender for me so I do
not have to pay back the
$41,000 they claim I owe. In the meantime, I was
ordered to follow the conditions of my bankruptcy
agreement until this issue is resolved in court.
In November of 2020, I had a fire in my home which
resulted in my furnace exploding which has left me
with no heat or hot water in the house. My insurance company, USAA, refuses to repair the damages in full and has only done a patchwork job so my home
would not be condemned by the township.
This past Monday during the torrential
thunderstorms on the east coast, a tree fell on my
house damaging the roof. I now have a hole in my
roof that I am battling to have fixed.
All of these issues have caused a lot of stress and
anxiety and have heightened my diagnosed PTSD. All I want is to live in peace in my home without having
this debt, which is not valid, hanging over my head.
Because I filed for bankruptcy to save my home I am
trapped in a 41-month agreement until the courts
hear my case. I pay my bills and my trustee fees
faithfully per the agreement but with what I have leftover at the end of the month it is impossible to make the much-needed repairs on my own.
The Costs: I am asking for help fundraising $41,000
to cover the expenses to repair my home and then I will be able to maintain it on my own. Trying to make the repairs not covered by insurance on my pension
from the Navy and still be able to take care of myself as well as my son on a daily basis has proven to be
very difficult.
