A plea for our brother in need of a transplant
Donation protected
Our brother, Brian, is in desperate need of a liver transplant. If he does not receive a new liver, he could die before his 51st birthday in March.
Due to the urgency of this situation, he has been advised to go to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona because his chances of getting a liver in time are higher. In order to do so, he and our parents will need to uproot and live in Arizona until a liver becomes available, the surgery is conducted, and for the course of his recovery.
As you can imagine, his financial situation is dire as well. He has been fighting his liver disease since February of 2019 and was on FMLA until he ultimately lost his position in September. He is on long-term disability, but the costs of this surgery coupled with the cost-of-living expenses associated with relocation will be significant. We have yet to see how insurance will cover his medical needs. And that's why we need your help.
The biggest irony of our brother needing a transplant is that he is the first person who would be in line to donate if anyone he knew and loved was in his position.
Brian has always had a quiet sense of generosity. His heart has always been bigger than his wallet. His actions are never to receive recognition — just done because his mindset is to help others, no matter their history or backstory. He finds great joy in helping others.
As you can imagine, we are in the fight of our lives. We are looking at months, not years with our brother. We are humbled by having to reach out for support, but in a time like this, we know our pride has to go by the wayside in order to fight for our brother's life.
We realize this is a difficult time of year financially for many. But, even the smallest amount would mean the world to us. If you aren't able to donate, please pray for Brian and keep our family in your prayers.
Blessings to you all. Stay close to your loved ones. Life is precious.
Thank you,
Jeff, Chris, and Leanne
