A place to stay
Donation protected
For the last four years, I have been unable to get into our bathroom and bedroom with my motorized wheelchair, unable to prepare meals, and need assistance with normal daily activities. There were medical mistakes made following a back surgery where I coded. Subsequently I was diagnosed with Lance-Adams action Myaclonus. It is caused from lack of oxygen to the brain. it is a movement disorder. It is not curable, and I need assistance to walk and need to hold onto something when I stand. I am very limited in normal activities. We have received no compensation for my condition.
Levco construction has offered to remodel our home at no expense to us to accommodate the many changes needed for me to function more safely. I am a fall risk and have received two concussions within the last two years.
The last of June Doug passed out from an extremely low heart rate and hit his head on some steel shelving at Home Depot and received a traumatic brain injury. He has a brain bleed, fractured, his temporal lobe, and a concussion. He was taken to the hospital and then transferred to the trauma hospital and was not released until 20 July. During this time, he received a pacemaker to stabilize the heart. He is doing ongoing outpatient Nuro therapy at a local rehab hospital.
The remodeling project starts October 2 and is projected to end November 22. We need to be out of our home during the construction. We have contacted many of the motels in our area and the best discounted price we could find
Is approximately $117 a day. (We have found a better and less expensive place to stay and I am reducing the amount needed,) It needs to be a place that can accommodate our disabilities and allow us to prepare meals. Doug has been my full-time caregiver, but with his traumatic brain injury, we have both needed intense care. Our family has stepped up to the plate and have depleted most of their resources and finances to help us. I will never be able to drive and until Doug passes all the OT requirements and does a driving test we have had to rely on family, friends, and church members to help with the multitude of doctor and therapy appointments, picking up medication‘s, purchasing groceries, etc.
If you are in a position to be able to help us, it would be most appreciated.
Thank you,
Doug and Madge
