Join the French Honor Society and Reading Across Borders in supporting education in Senegal! The Lycée Coumba Diack Guèye de Khombole (Coumba Diack Guèye High School of Khombole) needs your help!

For the past 15 years, Madame Sèye has been collaborating with her longtime friend, Monsieur Sellou Diallo, a teacher at the Coumba Diack Guèye High School, to promote equal access to education for underserved students. In 2021, Monsieur Diallo was named Teacher of the Year by the Association of Teachers of English in Senegal for his work.

As one of only two high schools in the village of Khombole, the Coumba Diack Guèye High School is an integral part of the community. Unfortunately, right now, the school doesn't have any sports or exercise facilities, leaving hundreds of students without a place to be active.

That's why the French Honor Society and Reading Across Borders have set a goal to raise $7,000 to build a new multifunctional terrain at the school. This terrain would allow students to play basketball, handball, soccer, and many other activities.

Physical activity is essential for children around the world. It benefits them not only socially and emotionally but also academically. Every child deserves this. Help us give these children what they need.

BASIS Independent McLean students brought school supplies to Khombole students during a project week trip in 2023 when they went there to inaugurate the new schoolhouse they raised money to build.
