Asking for Help While I Get Back on My Feet

Asking for help is not something I do easily. I’ve always been independent and proud of handling my responsibilities on my own. Unfortunately, this past year brought a series of unexpected events that created financial strain faster than I could recover from.

I made the difficult decision to leave a department that no longer aligned with my values before I was fully financially prepared. Since then, I’ve done everything I can to stay afloat — selling my vehicle, furniture, and personal belongings, taking cleaning jobs and flipping furniture, and continuing to apply and interview for full-time and contract positions. I’ve been applying for flight attendant and assistant roles while doing any honest work I can to keep money coming in.

I’ve also tried every formal option available to me. I’ve applied for loans and been denied, applied to local charity programs and rental assistance, and while I’ve received some help, it hasn’t been enough to cover what’s needed. I’ve also been denied Texas state benefits and unemployment, which has made this situation even harder to navigate.

I truly believed that if I just kept working and pushing forward, I could close the gap on my own. Eventually, that gap became bigger than I could carry alone.

I am currently behind on rent and facing the real risk of losing my housing if I can’t make a payment by February 16th. I’m actively working, continuing my job search, and my family contributes what they can, but the majority of the responsibility remains mine.

This fundraiser isn’t about giving up — it’s about creating a small bridge so I can stay housed and continue working toward stability. Any support, whether through donations, sharing, or work opportunities, truly helps more than I can express.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you’re able to offer.

With gratitude,
Siera
