Hello! My name is Ebosetale Oyamienlen, and I am fundraising for a pilgrimage to Seoul, South Korea for World Youth Day 2027 with the Canadian Jesuits.
Ever since I first learned about World Youth Day a few years ago, I’ve wanted to experience this incredible gathering of young Catholics from around the world. As someone who values faith, pilgrimage, and community, the opportunity to experience the Catholic Church in such a global and culturally unique way feels deeply meaningful to me.
One of the things that draws me most to this pilgrimage is the chance to experience Catholicism through another culture and perspective. Catholicism is often seen as a “Western” religion, and I’ve become increasingly interested in seeing how faith is lived out and expressed within Korean culture. I want to experience not only the language, traditions, and culture of Korea itself, but also how those things connect with faith, community, and worship.
Part of what excites me so much about World Youth Day is the opportunity to be surrounded by thousands of young Catholics from all over the world. In many places today, it can sometimes feel uncommon to see young adults actively practicing their faith, which makes gatherings like World Youth Day feel especially powerful and hopeful. The idea of worshipping, praying, and going on pilgrimage alongside so many other young people who share the same faith is something that has stayed with me ever since I first heard about WYD.
This pilgrimage is also important to me personally because I hope it will help me grow—not only in my faith, but also in my understanding of the universality of the Church. I want to return from Seoul with a broader perspective on what it means to be Catholic and how different cultures beautifully live out the same faith in their own ways.
I am currently fundraising to help cover the costs of travel, accommodations, registration, and other pilgrimage-related expenses for World Youth Day 2027. Any support, whether through donations or simply sharing this page, would mean so much to me and would help make this pilgrimage possible.
Thank you for supporting me on this journey and for being part of this experience with me. Please keep me in your prayers as I prepare for this pilgrimage to Seoul in 2027.
