A Piano to Train up Next Generation of Musicians

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Sarah. I am a professionally trained piano teacher with a MA in piano pedagogy, married to the love of my life, Brandon, who is a full-time missionary serving in the local house of prayer, and a mother of 4 young children. My life vision is to train up musicians who desire to worship God with excellence, but I need a piano to live out this calling. Let me share with you my story of God at work through a piano and how I am inviting you to be a part of the next chapter.

Twenty-four years ago, a 12 year old girl was walking her dad home from the bus stop after his long day at work. As they rounded the corner onto their street, the dad turned and asked his daughter, “What is your dream with your piano studies?” She pondered this question carefully and then responded, “I hope that somehow I will help other people love Jesus better through my own love of piano.” Fast forward through 12 more years of musical education and that same girl could look you in the eye and say, “I want to train up musicians who desire to worship God with excellence.” That girl was me.

11 years ago, I started praying for a piano. A friend’s heart was moved to partner with my vision and he offered his baby grand piano to me for 5 years at the cost of shipping it to my house. 5 years turned into 10 years. 10 years of using a beautiful instrument to teach nearly a hundred different students how to grow in their musical skills to worship God. Through the schedule adjustments of adding 4 children to our lives, the uncommon challenges of serving in ministry on the night shift for 7 years, and the trials of the pandemic lockdown and teaching lessons online, this piano has continued to be a source of not only income, but of worship and teaching without a month of silence in the past 10 years.

This piano was instrumental in writing music curriculum currently being used at a local Bible university to teach hundreds of budding musicians and worship leaders. It was used to teach many young children their first worship song and to coach high-school students in leading worship for their schools. This piano was used to train young adults who are now leading worship in prayer rooms and churches all around the globe including Kansas City, Colorado, California, China, Belgium, Australia, Germany and Korea. Not only that, but God also used those piano students and their monthly tuition checks to provide for our family so we could continue in full time ministry. How amazing to see God at work through a piano!

However, there is another chapter to be written in this story. My friend who so generously sowed his piano into my vision now has a home for his piano. But my vision has not changed. God has clearly called Brandon and me to equip the body of Christ to live a lifestyle of worship unto the return of Jesus. He has given me the passion and skill to train musicians to worship Him with excellence. But I need a piano to live out that calling. We have been given the opportunity to invest in a beautiful Yamaha C3 grand piano. New, it would cost nearly $60k. This piano has been exceptionally cared for and is an incredible deal at $20k. God has graciously allowed us to save $8k for a piano, but we need others who share in this vision to partner with us and give towards the remaining $12k. Would YOU be a part of our piano testimony and give towards a piano to train up the next generation of musicians?
