Q Runnings. A DPT Competing for USA.

Hi folks,
My name is Q… yep, just Q, like the letter. I have recently been named to the USA Bobsled Team. This has been a long-standing dream of mine since watching Cool Runnings as a child. YAY! Right?!?
Well, let’s get to it, I need your help.
My Story:
I was a college lacrosse player at the University of North Carolina and Brigham Young University before that. I was earning a master’s degree in exercise physiology while playing at UNC and working as an assistant strength and conditioning coach with basketball athletes at UNC. A strength coach at UNC encouraged me to attend a bobsled combine after completing my degree, which I did in Park City, UT. I performed well with minimal training or where-with-all of how the combine would work and was invited to a bobsled rookie camp. However, I had recently been accepted to physical therapy school and had a family to look after so I delayed the invitation and attended a doctor of physical therapy program. Once completing school, I opened my own physical therapy practice in Chapel Hill, NC. I specialize in an exercise-centric approach to physical therapy in helping people overcome pain and injury to facilitate a higher quality of life. Yes, even serious pain and injury can respond to an appropriately dosed training program in conjunction with other medically necessary treatment when warranted. I was recently invited again to a bobsled rookie camp where they teach you how to push a bobsled (yeah, seriously there’s an art to it) and race at the end of the week. Well, I won. So I was invited back to national push championships with the rest of the Team USA athletes. Well, I did pretty well there too and was named to Team USA. So, living out some big dreams, right?
Short Version:
Here’s the deal… I am a former Division I lacrosse player, Doctor of Physical Therapy, published author while earning a master’s degree in exercise physiology, strength and conditioning coach, father of 3 children, and now aspiring professional athlete. As it turns out, education isn’t cheap and gets steeper when your family is unable to financially support you. Let’s add a layer now. Team USA athletes are largely self-funded. Yep, that shocked me too.
Funding Synopsis:
We fly from Lake Placid, NY to Park City, UT, then to Canada, back to Park City, then back to Lake Placid, and to follow this small stint of travel we then race all over Germany, Austria, Latvia, and Switzerland. It’s on me to figure plane tickets and living arrangements as we go. Oh oh oh AND I need to pay to rent a sled for the season which costs $1,500 alone!
As you can see, I am in need of some serious help if I’m going to be able to live out this dream and compete for my country. This has been 4+ years in the making for me and I am just now getting my shot. Please help me make the most of what I’ve worked years for. If only 200 people gave $50, we’d make it!
