A Perfect Match: Sparks Family Transplant Fund
Donation protected
For those who don’t already know, my sister Megan was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease (focal segmental glomerulosclerosis- FSGS) when she was 12 years old. Over the years, Megan has had 5 kidney biopsies and managed the disease with several medications, but we knew one day she would need a transplant. Well, that time has come. Last August, Megan was informed she’s in Stage 5 kidney failure. She was then added to the kidney transplant waitlist and has been doing peritoneal dialysis 3 times a day over the past 3 months while fighting to hang on long enough for a donor kidney.
Thankfully, our prayers have been answered and Megan has found a perfect match. The same perfect match she met on match.com 8 years ago. Her husband, Donnie. Megan and Donnie are truly 1 in 100,000. That’s the odds of spouses being a perfect kidney match. I will never be able to thank my brother-in-law enough for expressing his unconditional love and providing her the opportunity to continue living out her best life with her loved ones.
While the hardest part of finding a perfect match is now over, Megan and Donnie are still going to need some help financially for the next couple of months. If you know them, then you know they hate to ask for help. So instead of them asking, I will.
If you would like to assist with their financial burden, any donation would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will go directly to Megan and Donnie’s medical costs (the transplant itself is $5,000 out of pocket), including any related medical bills, travel (several trips to/from Ohio State University Hospital), hotel expenses (Megan will be required to stay in Columbus within close proximity to the hospital for 1-2 weeks after being discharged), food, and to assist with their monthly bills and childcare costs, as they both will be required to be out of work for 1-2 months after the surgery.
Thank you all for taking the time to read their story and for your consideration to ease their financial burden so they can instead focus on resting and healing. I know they would greatly appreciate any help you can offer. Prayers are also always welcome!
