Help Us Lay Maddie to Rest

It breaks my heart to even have to write this.

My beautiful friend Maddie was tragically taken from us in St. Louis due to gun violence. She was a transgender woman with the kindest soul, a bright spirit, and a heart that deserved so much more life than she was given. Waking up to this news has left me completely shattered.

Maddie did not have the support system many people take for granted. She was left with little to no family support, and now the responsibility of making sure she is properly honored and laid to rest has fallen on those of us who truly loved her. To me, Maddie was more than a friend — she was like my daughter. I was there during the beginning stages of her transition, helping guide her, support her, and remind her she deserved to live fully and proudly as herself. Watching her grow into who she truly was meant everything to me.

We are raising money to help cover funeral arrangements, memorial expenses, flowers, transportation, clothing, and everything needed to give Maddie the peaceful and dignified goodbye she deserves. We also want to help provide support for the loved ones gathering together during this devastating weekend to celebrate her life and mourn together.
