A path to Tucker’s Recovery!
Donation protected
Hey everyone, on 7/28 my son’s puppy Tucker hurt both his front legs from jumping off the couch. He was immediately taken to the vet where X-rays were taken and found both of his shoulders were fully dislocated. After some failed attempts at resetting his shoulders locally, he was urgently rushed to Kansas State Veterinary Hospital where he resides in ICU with excruciating pain from the double dislocations, previous failed attempts, and severe inflammation. The second initial plan was for the orthopedic to perform the less invasive approach setting them back in place and if that wasn’t an option, they would perform an open reduction surgery. Unfortunately, once Tucker was sedated, we found neither options will work due to lost time and the level of trauma Tucker has to his shoulders. The next option is a bilateral surgery called Surgical Excision Arthroplasty. This procedure involves removing part of the joint specifically, the glenoid cavity-which is currently in conflict with the humeral head and contributing to pain. Excision Arthroplasty provides good functional outcomes in small dogs.
If surgery goes smooth, Tucker should see a full recovery but will experience a permanent limp. I’m trying to raise money to cover the cost of surgery needed for Tucker to recover. I appreciate the love everyone has already shown our family, your continued prayers, and words of encouragement. Tucker means the world to us. If you are able to help in any way possible Tucker, Kash, and myself will be forever grateful.
