For centuries in North Africa and West Africa, generations of students of knowledge have learnt the most important knowledge of all: how to worship their Creator.
It has been the tradition to start with a short book which codified the essential rulings from the Qur'an and the Sunnah: Mukhtasar Al Akhdari, a primer in Maliki fiqh.
Mukhtasar al Akhdari has been taught widely, including in the English language.
It is to support and assist the Muslims beginning their journey of knowledge, often new converts, that we want to publish the translation of the commentary (sharh) of Al Akhdari, written by a renowned Moroccan scholar.
This commentary is concise, and clarifies to the reader the meaning of the original text. It also connects the student to some of the evidence behind the ruling without confusing him.
It is truly a gem that will benefit the beginner immensely in shaa Allah.
Over a year ago, we started our search for the ideal person, both well-versed in Islamic sciences and the art of translating.
Finding such person is no easy task!
And believe it or not, but translating such a text costs close to $10 000!
Fortunately, we were blessed to find a seasoned translator and teacher of Islamic teacher who offered to complete this task at a 50% discounted rate! Alhamdulillah.
