To our dear beloved Columbine community and friends,

It is with great sadness that I inform you that our beloved Director of Music, Ms. Janis Kelly is no longer employed at Columbine Unity Spiritual Center. Janis has been an incredibly devoted, awe inspiring musical force for good in our community. She has led our music team to greatness with immense integrity and love. Janis is a model of the values we hold so dear to our hearts at Columbine. She has been the very essence of a spirit led leader, always holding the very best for our community at the center of every musical production or community event she envisioned. She had a way of cultivating the very best performance in musicians while maintaining a kind and inclusive rehearsal and performance space for all involved.

We have truly lost one of our best and brightest, and I send my love out to you as you make space to grieve this incredible loss. As many of you know, Janis’ departure from our community has come suddenly and quite unexpectedly. Janis considers Columbine her family and her home, and we are quite shocked that she has not been offered the honors that come with the departure of a beloved and committed leader, including the opportunity to formally say goodbye and the courtesy of a fair severance package. It is my greatest hope that you will consider giving generously to this GoFundMe to support Janis and her family as she searches for new employment.
