A One in a Million Diagnosis... A One in a Million Chance

Donation protected
Janet has always been the cornerstone of her family—a nurturing, loving, and selfless presence. As a mother, her kindness was the steady anchor for her children, Wes and Joni, as they navigated the difficult terrain of military service, and was always there to offer comfort and care (both are now retired combat veterans).

Her role as a Nana has brought even more joy into her life, as she adores Wes and Kathleen's kids, Bella and Bryce, imparting the same love and devotion she has for her children. Janet's influence extends beyond her family, as her strength and kindness inspires all that know her. She truly exemplifies what it means to be a constant source of love and encouragement.

Now, after a lifetime of giving, Janet is facing her own battle: a rare cancer called Appendiceal Mucinous Neoplasm (APM)—a condition so rare it affects only 1–2 million people worldwide.

A Sudden, Life-Altering Diagnosis

In November 2024, Janet began experiencing sharp abdominal pain after lifting a heavy bag. What initially seemed like a muscle strain quickly escalated into persistent pain, fevers, and chills. Despite multiple ER visits and antibiotics, her symptoms worsened. Finally, on December 19, 2024, an exploratory surgery confirmed the unthinkable: a cancerous tumor on her appendix had burst, spreading mucin throughout her abdomen and impacting vital organs.

The Challenging Road Ahead

Janet’s Stage 4 diagnosis requires an intense and difficult treatment plan starting on January 24th, 2025, that includes:

HIPEC Surgery: An 8–15-hour operation to remove affected tissues and organs, followed by heated chemotherapy directly to her abdomen.
Prolonged Recovery: A 2–3 month recovery from surgery, followed by additional chemotherapy and up to two years of healing to adjust to a new normal.
Lifestyle Adjustments: A strict diet and supplementation regimen to support her recovery.

To access the specialized care she needs, Janet must relocate to San Diego, where her daughter Joni will serve as her full-time caregiver. While Joni works part-time as a therapist, her caregiving duties mean cutting back on work hours, further straining their finances. The mounting costs for housing, living expenses, and Janet’s specialized care are projected to be overwhelming.

How You Can Help

Janet’s cancer is treatable, but the financial burden is immense. Your generosity will help cover:

Housing expenses near the hospital to ensure Janet’s access to critical care.
Living expenses for Janet and Joni during this challenging time.
Specialized dietary and medical needs to support Janet’s recovery.

Every donation, prayer, and shared word can make a huge difference. Your generosity will ease the financial burden and allow Janet to focus on her recovery, while Joni can continue supporting both her mother and her clients.

Thank you for helping us give Janet a fighting chance. Your support means the world to us during this difficult time.

(Goal total is 100K but any amount is more than appreciated.)
