A Nurse in Need: Help Christine Heal

Story

Update: My mother has seen the surgeon and continues to see other specialists. Plan is for her to have surgery at the end of the month to remove the tumor followed by a few rounds of Radiation Therapy. Pain is controlled and she continues to be optimistic. Thank you so much to all the angels who have shared or donated! Hi everyone, my name is Celena. I’m the oldest daughter of Christine, a dedicated registered nurse and the heart of our family. My siblings and I are reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for help during one of the most difficult times our family has faced. For as long as I can remember, my mom has always been someone who gives her all to care for others. She’s been a nurse for the past five years and has dreams of continuing her education to earn her master’s degree. But right now, she’s the one who needs care—and we can’t do it alone. Last year, my mom was diagnosed with a rare, benign nerve cell tumor in her neck. At first, it wasn’t causing symptoms, and doctors chose to monitor its growth. Surgery was eventually recommended to remove it before it became high-risk, but due to complications with insurance, she couldn’t get the regular care and consultations she needed. About a month ago, everything changed. She started experiencing intense pain in her head, neck, and throat. We found out the tumor had grown much faster than expected and is now pressing on a major nerve, causing constant and severe pain. It’s spreading down the right side of her neck and spine, and every day it becomes harder for her to manage. Because of the size and location of the tumor, surgery is now considered too risky. Her best hope is to undergo radiation therapy to shrink the tumor before attempting surgery. Unfortunately, without insurance and unable to work, the cost of treatment is overwhelming—and the pain is only getting worse. Our mom is the most hardworking, selfless person we know. It breaks our hearts to see her suffer like this. We’re doing everything we can, but we need your help to give her a fighting chance. Every donation will go toward: Medical treatments and procedures Radiation therapy Rent and utility bills so we can stay in our home during this crisis If you’re not able to donate, please consider sharing this page. Every bit of help counts, and we are so grateful for your support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. With love, Celena and family
