A Nurse In Need, Eileen Ramsey

Eileen Ramsey has been a dedicated neonatal intensive care registered nurse for over 40 years. She is an incredibly compassionate, knowledgeable, nurturing, and selfless woman who believes her calling in life is to help heal sick babies. Unfortunately, her sacrifices have not been met with reciprocity for her good deeds. In recent years, tragedy has continued to strike, leaving Eileen in a vulnerable position. It is my hope that as a community, we can uplift Eileen through financial support and thoughts of loving-kindness.

Here is Eileen's story:

After Bill, her loving husband of 28 years, passed away from cancer in 2015 she was met with the stressful demands of running a household and caring for her children who were struggling to process their grief. In December 2021, she unexpectedly suffered a heart attack on Christmas morning. Her brokenheartedness had manifested into a physical one, and she required open heart surgery. Her recovery was rocky. Eileen required multiple re-hospitalizations. With the accumulating financial burdens, she had no choice but to forfeit necessary cardiac rehab. She returned to work in the NICU, prematurely. After her car broke down, she felt overwhelmed with financial demands. So even though her body and strength had not recovered, she worked overtime. In January of this year, she was accidentally tripped by her dogs. In a moment of chaos and confusion, she was bitten by the dogs, leaving her hospitalized again with bite wounds to her arms and leg.

As Eileen's colleague, I have witnessed her strength and resiliency each time she returns to work. She has suffered many tragedies and losses. When asked, she says the only thing that gets her through is her faith. With 2 living grandchildren and 1 on the way, she hopes to spend the rest of her life watching them grow and prosper. Please help me help Eileen restore her light that has shown so brightly over the last 40 years for her patients. It is her turn to be taken care of.
