Hi, my name is Agnes Khoo, a self-made woman writer, an activist-scholar, a migrant-nomad who has made the world my home and the people I know, my alternative family and community. My most-recognized published work in various languages is, "Life As The River Flows ", a ground-breaking oral history book about former women guerillas in Southeast Asia who fought anti-colonial and anti-imperialist wars, and for the independence of Malaysia and Singapore (1928-1989). I have also translated and published works about migrants and migration, autobiographies, South East Asian and World Histories, Asian Social Movements, etc.
I am writing my autobiography, which spans the last 50 years, covering world-changing events as I have personally witnessed and experienced including, the collapse of the Berlin Wall, the formation of 'Fortress Europe', the collapse of military dictatorships in Southeast and East Asia, the Asian Financial Crisis, China's Economic Reform and Opening Up to the World, the ascent of neo-liberal globalization, COVID-19 PANDEMIC in Asia and Africa, as well as the ongoing US-CHINA tensions, and their impact, from the perspective of an Asian woman and activist scholar. I need your solidarity and support to help make my most-cherished dream come true: to document the life of a child from Singapore whose parents' political persecution during the Cold War remains a silenced and taboo subject in Asian history. Your help in covering my publishing costs shall make sure the voices of the marginalized are not silenced.
