Short Summary:

The film was inspired by experiences that I, and many of my close friends, both men and women, have had over the past number of years. It is an accumulation of all the uncomfortable dates we’ve been on. An amalgamation of those awkward encounters where you are trying to communicate consent to somebody, or trying to understand someone’s boundaries.

Logline:

The two titular characters are on their third date and one awkward encounter follows the next, leading to their eventual miscommunication in the bedroom.

Approach:

The reason we are creating this film is to give some needed nuance and love to the subject of consent. This is a fairly new topic in public discourse and therefore we are in its infancy. The conversation is just getting started. I think there is an angle in this conversation that is missing, and one that could potentially help further the discourse. That is what this film is to me. To our team. It is one where we are showing an all-too-familiar scenario, a night over at someone’s house where consent is not being understood or respected by one or both of the people. It is awkward. It is scary. It is frustrating. But it is not sensationalized. This film intends to give nuance and love to both people involved in a very complicated act; giving and receiving consent, that we often oversimplify as black and white.
