H. B. Warner was a noted actor from the silent and early talkie eras. He's remembered for his roles in films like The King of Kings, Lost Horizon (a role which earned him an Oscar nomination), and the perennial Christmas classic It's a Wonderful Life, as Mr. Gower.
After his death in 1958 he was cremated, his ashes placed in the community vault at Chapel of the Pines in Los Angeles (which has no public access).
Having received permission from living relatives, we are undertaking efforts to have Mr. Warner's ashes retrieved from the vault, and placed in a public niche in the Chapel of the Pines Columbarium, where he can finally be visited by those who still love and remember him all these years later. The funds raised here will go to the cost of the new niche, name tablet, and other associated cemetery fees.
Our goal is to to give H. B. Warner a new home just in time for Christmas. Thank you all for your support, every little bit helps!
About Me: My name is Arthur Dark, creator and host of the YouTube channel Hollywood Graveyard . Over the years I've worked on several campaigns to mark the graves of notable figures in Hollywood history, including Pinto Colvig (the voice of Disney's Goofy), and motion picture pioneer William Selig. We've also worked to facilitate the placement of unclaimed ashes of stars into niches, including Helen Chandler, star of 1931's Dracula, and Hollywood's favorite Santa Claus, Edmund Gwenn. These efforts at Chapel of the Pines have been done in collaboration with fellow Hollywood historian, Jessica Wahl of Silence is Platinum. Thank you also to Bob Satterfield, who was able to track down relatives of Mr. Warner to secure permission.
