A New Wheelchair for Jay's Daily Needs
Donation protected
Hi there! My name is Jay, and I am a 20 year old individual who suffers from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome of the hypermobility type. One of my worst symptoms is how both of my kneecaps often dislocate which can make walking a very scary, unpredictable, and painful experience.
I am currently attending my local community college with a major in visual arts! Unfortunately, my physical limitations have been getting the better of me and have held me back from enjoying my studies and making meaningful connections...
I was hospitalized less than a month ago due to a scary decline in my mental health because of how chronic pain and fatigue have been taking over my life. However, that was also the first time I got my hands on a manual wheelchair of sorts, and man it made my stay there so much easier (I couldn't keep it since it belonged to the hospital).
I have been borrowing a friend's family's medical wheelchair for the time being, but it's rapidly falling apart because it's so old- Screws coming loose, squeaky wheels that WD-40 doesn't even fix, and cracks in the wheels!
I do have a medical prescription for a wheelchair evaluation, but the waitlist at the specific practice is estimated to be 6+ months and I can't wait that long without a very serious mobility aid... So I am asking for help from others as the type of wheelchair I am asking for is considerably pricey due to it being for everyday use. Thankfully this is a cheaper amazon version I found that seems to be reliable enough though :")
below is the proof of diagnosis and prescription
