A New Start for Big B's Heart
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Amy and I'm fundraising for my second cousin, Brysen. If you’re blessed enough to know Brysen, you’ve witnessed his heart of gold, his commitment to hard work, and his deep love for his family and friends, especially his mother. He was born on St. Patrick’s Day 26 years ago, with a congenital heart defect, and was given a 50/50 chance of survival. After three open heart surgeries in the past, he now needs another.
Big B grew up in Irving, TX. Because he was not able to play sports, he was a football and basketball manager for his middle school and high school teams, never missing a game. He graduated from MacArthur in 2015 and was voted Prom King. Brysen was left with an intellectual disability caused by a lack of oxygen to his brain during his first heart surgery as a newborn. But this hasn’t stopped him from working at Walmart to bring home an income to help his mother with living expenses. They are both unable to work during his current health challenge.
After collapsing at home on January 16th, Brysen was rushed to the hospital. His team of doctors determined that his heart valve has become obstructed, giving him limited blood flow to his heart and lungs. After a two-week hospital stay, he was released home where he is being treated for a blood infection and awaiting necessary dental surgery. Once the dental surgery is complete, he will go back to the hospital for open heart surgery to replace his heart conduit and valve.
Brysen is a miracle and a true gift from God. He and his mother will be on leave from work until early April. While our prayers are the strongest show of support we can provide Brysen, our financial support can also make a big difference in the stresses that are likely to follow. Would you consider donating to this GoFundMe ‘A New Start for Big B’s Heart’? What a blessing you will be if Brysen and his mother can keep their focus on his recovery. Your support in Brysen’s journey, whether spiritual, financial or both, is appreciated more than we can ever express.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
