A New Rescue for Dawnie Lu's Guinea Pig Rescue
Hey everybody! For those who don't know me, my name is Dawn and I run a rescue and Facebook group called Dawnie Lu's Guinea Pig Rescue out of Carbondale Illinois. I have rescued and rehomed a little over 1350 guinea pig guinea pigs since I began 5 years ago. This morning's count here, 76. I run the rescue by myself 97% of the time and finance it myself with the help of some loyal members of the guinea pig group who donate funds or food. On average I receive about four monetary donations per month and five Amazon wish list donations.. every penny helps and I am certainly grateful to anyone donating anything at all. the motto of the rescue is"where the only fee is unconditional love". and that is what I want most for them all is to find there forever home and therefore every family that will show them unconditional love.
Hopefully that gives everyone who doesn't know the rescue already an idea of what I do. Now for the reason for the fundraiser. we are currently in a 744 ft mobile home with nowhere to spare. yesterday I happened to catch a glimpse of the owner, home lives about 9 hours away from here. she was just driving through on our way home from somewhere. she stopped and we chatted for a while. long story short she is willing to donate the mobile home next door to the rescue so that I may move the recipes out of my home so I can finally have it be myself and all of my own forever animals. this would be the first time in 5 years that my own animals would be able to have someone on one time with me and I can catch a break and it's not have them all right there when I wake everyday. I love them don't get me wrong but a few minutes with my own animals would be so splendid. I would still have to pay lot rent and electric but she would cover the monthly bills on the other utilities for the rescue. it is literally right next door to me which would be perfect because I couldn't get to them quickly and I may actually be able to have volunteers that way as my schedule is crazy and I usually do everything in the middle of the night so I don't have volunteers because everyone is sleeping like normal people do in the night LOL. although I'm excited and so so grateful I don't want to jump In too deep without having a good 6 months lot rents paid for ahead of time so as not to cause any issues while I am adjusting to two places. So for my sake and the guinea pigs sakes that are here now and that will be here in the future I am hoping that everyone reading this can donate towards this cause and help Dawnie Lu's Guinea Pig Rescue own their very own place. So pull out your hundreds or throw in some change and help the rescue grow and help more guinea pigs in the future be safe with me. And remember every time this post gets shared you never know who may see it and be able to help. so please share share share. All right here we go fundraiser, let's do this!
