As a transplant survivor, Mark Chervinsky has made it his mission to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation. The best way he can is with his 3rd film Life and Near Death of a Bears Fan!

The award-winning documentarian and television editor found himself in a fight for his life on Dec. 7, 2022. Shortly after a trip to the emergency room, he found out his liver was in failure. After countless doctors' appointments, blood draws and countless other procedures, the outlook for survival was grim.

Mark's outlook improved after he met with specialists at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Once they determined a new liver was his only option for survival and a barrage of tests, his case was approved and he was placed on waiting list for a liver on Dec. 5, 2023.

 

Thanks to his age, otherwise relatively strong health and his blood type, Mark shot to the top of the list. Three days later, Mark was in a 13-hour transplant surgery and received a liver thanks to a selfless donor named Spencer who checked the organ-donation box before passing away at the age of 34.

 

Mark’s color and strength of voice returned to normal almost immediately, and after fifteen days of recovery at Cedars, he returned home in time for Christmas.

He since has started the non-profit "Mark Here 4 Life" to get as many people as possible to check the organ-donor box on their drivers' licenses.

Funds will be used to make my third documentary Life and Near Death of a Bears Fan and boost a social media campaign to go educate kids before they get their drivers license.
