A New Liver, A New Hope: Support This Mom
Donation protected
Hello everyone, here is my story. I’m a single mom and have a very small circle. Over the past few months, I wasn’t feeling very well. I went to urgent care and was told it was probably my gall bladder. So, I went and got some tests done and was held at the hospital. My blood work was so terrible I was told I had pancreatitis. Then I went to another hospital and was told it was my liver and kidneys. After weeks of being in the hospital, they transferred me to Johns Hopkins. I have been hospitalized since January 12th. I was intubated and put on kidney dialysis, but I only continued to get more sick. We found out I needed a new liver because it was so enlarged and making all of my other organs sick as well.
On February 14th, my whole life changed. I was blessed to have a match for a new liver. After 8 hours of surgery and 50 plus staples, I was in recovery. I still have months to go; I haven’t been home in over 6 weeks. I will be on medication for the rest of my life. I’m still getting my strength back slowly, day by day. Unfortunately, I can’t be the mother I want to or work for a little while. The time my family has taken off to sit in the hospital for days on end and missing work to care for my daughter has been huge, and things aren’t always easy. My daughter’s birthday is also coming up, but sadly I’ll still be recovering.
I’m lucky to be alive and God is so good. Life is precious, and if anyone could do anything to help during this time, my family and I could really use it. Anything helps. Hopefully, in a few months, I’ll be totally healed. Thank you to anyone reading this and being supportive of this hardship right now❤️
