MESSAGE FROM FABIO

Dear friends, colleagues, and all the wonderful people who have overwhelmed us with affection over these past few days,On September 1st, our only and beloved son, Alessandro Aran, chose to fly to heaven at just 19 years old. He was a kind, authentic boy, with a deep intellect and rare sensitivity. In this immense darkness, his funeral made us discover something extraordinary: we are not alone. So many people love us, and this love is the only anchor we have left.We are a simple family. I am 58 years old, and my wife will turn 43 in just a few days, on September 13th. We both work inside the FAO building in Rome for external contractors, earning low-to-medium wages. My wife moved from Thailand 30 years ago to build a family, and today her homeland and her loved ones are far away.Right now, we desperately need your help to survive this pain. We live in a public housing apartment on Viale della Venezia Giulia: it is a dark, humid ground-floor flat, far from work, and saturated with memories that take our breath away. By a tragic coincidence, three other young people in our building gave up on life in the same way before Aran. We feel that this dark house contributed to putting out our son's light. As a father and a husband, I feel a profound duty to help my wife stand up again, to bring some happiness back into her life, and to make our daily journey simpler and more sustainable. My dream is to take her away from here: to find a smaller apartment, but one filled with sunlight, with a large balcony or a terrace. A place where in the morning, instead of turning on artificial lights, she can step outside, look at the sky, and say hello to our Aran. We would love a home close to Metro Line B or C, so we can commute to work without the stress of driving, and be able to save enough to let her travel back to Thailand every now and then to reconnect with her roots. We do not have the financial means to do this on our own. Many of you have gently asked if we needed financial support. We started this fundraising campaign because it felt like the most transparent, honest, and dignified way to welcome your big hearts. Even a small contribution, combined with many others, can make a lifelong difference for us.In just a few days, it will be my wife's birthday. The greatest gift we can give her, together, is the hope of a future where she can breathe and look at the light.Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for every single gesture, for your closeness, and for not leaving us alone in the dark.
