My name is Youssef Alwikhari , I am 27 years old, and I work as an occupational therapist supporting people with disabilities, especially children with cerebral palsy and individuals with brain injuries. I’ve always believed that rehabilitation can help people regain movement — and regain hope.
But during the war, I lost my own sense of stability. I was displaced multiple times: sometimes to UNRWA shelters, other times to tents that could not protect us from the cold or the fear. The hospital where I worked was bombed, and I lost my job for an entire year. My situation — financially and emotionally — collapsed during that time.
At the beginning of this year, I was finally able to return to work at Nasser Medical Hospital, supporting people with severe disabilities. The work gave me a reason to keep going, but it did not give me safety or a future. Life in Gaza has become a continuous struggle for survival, with no end to the suffering.
Today, I have one dream: *to build a new life*.
I hope to travel to South Africa, live somewhere peaceful near the sea, and start again — far from the trauma and the endless cycle of fear. I want a chance to live a normal life, work, be independent, and rebuild myself in a place where I can finally breathe.
This fundraiser is to help me cover the costs of:
• Traveling out of Gaza
• Visa, legal, and relocation procedures
• Initial housing and basic needs to start my life in safety
Any contribution — even the smallest — brings me closer to a life where I can heal, rebuild, and find peace.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, supporting, and sharing.
