Hi!
My name is Phuong Nguyen, just a person who can't turn a blind eye to a cat in need and I really need your help.
Gato is one of the sweetest cats that have blessed my life, but he has lived a life of neglect and lack of medical care.
Most of Gato's teeth are rotten, black rotten, on both side, and the dental issue has caused severe stomatitis that has made it very painful for Gato to eat or drink. He needs dental work and dental extractions to relieve him from the pain. Your support, whether in monetary donation or by sharing the word, will help Gato live the rest of his life free of pain.
Backstory:
Gato was born underneath the neighbor's house in 2017. The neighbors had dogs so Gato has always had to fend for himself outside with no medical care. Since I moved next door in 2021, Gato has always been there for me. Every time I come home, he would be there by the driveway, on sunny days, rainy days, cold days, or hot days, he was always there to welcome me home. He is the most gentle and pure soul in the form of a fluffy white cat.
In the past few years I've seen his health decline, he got skinnier, then he disappeared for a few weeks in August 2025. He miraculously made his way back somehow, but almost half dead. His stool was tar black and slimy, he was so weak that he let us put him in a carrier. The neighbors, who were still claiming Gato as "their cat", were just standing there watching him fade away. But I could see Gato was still fighting for his life, so I took him to the ER vet myself and paid for almost $2000 in vet bill. Gato's health improved. I kept him inside my house while he recovered, and that was the first time he knew what it's like to be on a couch. He didn't even touch the couch for the first few nights.
Once Gato was fully recovered, he went on living his life, roaming around the neighborhood. He disappeared again during winter time and reappeared in March 2026. I welcome him back, but I noticed he started to decline again so I decided to take him to the vet to get checked. Luckily I listened to my gut feeling because it turned out he had UTI, which can be fatal in male cats in the matter of hours if left untreated. I also got him a dental surgery appointment to get his teeth taken care of, because they were rotten, but the problem turned out bigger than it seemed...
