A new laptop for Chuck Bennett!!!

Don protégé

Chuck Bennett is a friend who needs some help desperately.

He is disabled and largely confined to his bed and has trouble with manipulating and getting what he needs out of the tablet he has, and he can't afford much And as far as that's concerned, his finances have been so decimated by the hardships caused by the chronic pain he suffers from trigeminal neuralgia and it is devastating. So financially he needs a little help on this.

He suffers from the most painful and horrible condition known to man and the pain is indescribable and his situation is now largely untreatable except by the sort of painkillers I take and I can tell you that if those aren't enough for me they must be like eating Pez to Chuck. He is a great guy who is/was an attorney, has made his own way in the world for his family before it threw him a terrible curveball, and has been an awesome inspiration and friend to me, and he needs this badly.

As far as we can figure, he needs a good touch screen large enough that not only can he see the monitor clearly, but can manipulate the icons with hands that can shake badly and hit the wrong spots on a smaller screen. A good 15" 2-in-1 type that can be used as a tablet or laptop will do nicely and the better resolution and brightness will help his eyes. And it will also allow him to better watch movies and play the games he hasn't been able to with his tablet, and I can tell you myself - in the shoes of someone in chronic pain any form of entertainment is gold when you have a hard enough time dealing with fading in and out from pain meds and/or the pain..

I also figure it should be something that will last him for a long time - not just for the next year or two, and be durable to hold up to daily use. Something that will support Windows and the software he needs and wants to add some quality to his life he deserves. Also a good wireless headset and keyboard.  A nice monitor for the docking station might be good, too.

Primarily, I want to provide Chuck with options unrestrained by his ability or not to afford something he needs....instead of something he can "get by" with.  To make things easier for him and again provide greater options down the road with a good system.

I have this GoFundMe set up to accept donations that has no real limit, but I'm looking for a 1500.00 minimum.  That will provide the computer, software, a wireless headset, and maybe a larger monitor for his desk for those times he wants to sit there to work.  Anything left over or beyond that that comes in will just go straight to Chuck for whatever else he needs.  So...the sky's the limit, really, until I shut this GoFundMe down.

We can do this, and do this fast...please.  I have to go into my major surgery for my bone grafting/bracing screwing/hammering and sawing in a few days and I'll be unlikely to be able to do much after that for a few days with regards to monitoring and advancing this cause.  So let's get this ball rolling big time right away, please?

I know I can kick in some money that I'd just fritter away on Cokes, tacos, and maybe something else I really don't need and can just get another time anyway.  How about you?
