Aloha family, friends, and generous donors,
Over nine years ago, our dad Renato Danganan, was diagnosed with colon cancer and kidney failure. Thank God he recovered from his cancer after multiple treatments and surgery. It was not an easy battle as he was also fighting for his life with kidney failure. Dialysis was his temporary life-saving treatment which enabled him to have an everyday life. Renato is a kind, loving, hard-working husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is our chef and handyman of the family. His passion for cooking and his love to repair and repurpose things inspire our family to share our love for cooking and our delicious food with our family, friends, and others we meet along the way.
This past Sunday, May 15th, he was allowed to proceed with the transplant. The following day, he had his surgery and received a new kidney from a young donor. On behalf of our dad and our family, we would like to extend our gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of UCSF Medical Center for the successful surgery, treatment, and care our dad received. Your professionalism, dedication, hard work, and compassion to save others are blessings. The donor and medical staff have given our family and my dad hope and a second chance to live a normal life again. We are forever grateful to all of you. Our thoughts and prayers are with the donor and her family. We thank her kindness and choice to become an organ donor. May she rest peacefully in heaven.
We ask for your help and support to help finance our dad Renato’s follow-up medical treatments, prescription drugs, lodging, meals, and travel expenses while staying in San Francisco for 6-8 weeks. We are praying and hopeful for a successful post-transplant surgery and medical treatments to follow. Your kindness and generosity are a blessing to our dad Renato and our family. Please keep awareness of your physical wellness and choose to be a life-saving organ donor. Thank you, and God bless us all.
Warm Regards,
Renato Danganan and family
