Hi, my name is Ahmed Shbair, from Gaza, Palestine. I am a journalist, and currently a PhD student pursuing a Doctorate in Communication Studies. I left Gaza to continue my studies on October 5, 2023, just two days before the war started in Gaza. My heart has been broken since then, as my entire family is in Gaza, facing the horrors and severe hardships that have been happening since October 7, 2023.

Since the war began, all of home in Khan Younis that once provided warmth and security has been destroyed during the conflict. Many families were forced to leave their home, becoming refugees in their own land, living in a meager tent that offers little protection from the elements. They literally have nothing left in this world because of the war.

I feel happy when I see these scenes that remind me of our life before. I hope that life returns to Gaza once again.
