My lovely brother-in-law Tom has recently and unexpectedly been diagnosed with heart failure.

After a number of unexplained trips to hospital, doctors ran further tests and discovered that his heart was functioning at just 10%. Soon after came the devastating news - he is in heart failure and will need a heart transplant in the near future.

Tom has always been incredibly fit and healthy, so this has come completely out of the blue. Even the doctors are unsure how this has happened.

He will now undergo further testing to better understand his needs and determine his eligibility for the heart transplant list, a process that is both overwhelming and uncertain for him and our whole family.

In the meantime, he will need to undergo procedures to have a pacemaker and an internal defibrillator fitted to help keep his heart going.

He has been advised to step away from work and is no longer able to drive. Most of his days now must be spent resting. For someone who has always lived such an active life, this sudden change has been incredibly difficult. Even small amounts of activity can leave him completely exhausted, and overexertion could have serious, even fatal, consequences.

We are asking for your support to help Tom and his family through this incredibly challenging time. With ongoing medical treatments, medications, and the costs associated with his care and recovery, the financial pressure is quickly building.
