A New Heart for Sienna

Four-year-old Sienna Estelle Barton loves to have fun. You can find her walking the halls of the children's hospital, belting Taylor Swift songs and dressed as a new Disney princess each day. Tubes and lines snake from her small body to the whirring machine keeping her alive while she waits for a donor heart. This sassy little girl was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Like other children with this congenital condition, the left side of her heart is too small and can't pump blood sufficiently.

Sienna has had many hospital stays and procedures (including 4 open-heart surgeries) since her birth. In January of 2023 she contracted Influenza and went into heart failure. Nothing could be done to reverse this and she was listed for a heart transplant in February of 2023. The condition of her heart declined rapidly and she was placed on a mechanical heart (VAD or Berlin Heart) a month later.

Sadly, this tiny fighter has been inpatient at the children's hospital for over 800 DAYS and has to stay there, tethered to her lifeline, until she receives a new heart. Sienna's parents have traveled the 60+ miles to and from the hospital, almost daily, in order to spend time with both Sienna at the hospital and her siblings at home.

While we can't help Sienna get her new heart sooner, we would like to support our dear friends, the Barton family, financially. Our goal is to raise money to help this deserving family with their medical bills, finishing the basement of their townhome (so Sienna has her own quarantine room when she is finally home), gas money, and other mounting expenses that have come with this taxing situation.
