A New Heart and Life for Ginger
Donation protected
I have tried to be a healthy person all my life. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes as a young person. I have no side effects and my A1c is 5.9. I have lost 65 lbs recently and was getting back to myself after the weight gained with Hashimoto's. I enjoy being outside, gardening, fishing, as well as quilting, drawing, or enjoying a good book.
I was out at a work outing when I suddenly could not stand or walk. It felt like my blood pressure had dissipated. I had a sudden heart failure on 28 May 2024. I received a diagnosis of end-stage heart failure with a transplant needed on 1 October. I went through an enormous amount of testing. A pacemaker was implanted on 14 Oct, but it failed and was powered down on 22 Oct. I was added to the transplant list and I signed consent on 11 Nov. I was hospitalized on 19 Nov, my birthday. So this is the first day of my new life.
My brother also received a shocking diagnosis the day before I did. He lives near family. I do not live near family and have costs to keep my apartment as well as to pay insurance, deductibles, accessible clothing, etc. I hope that if you have experience with donor or recipient families or would like to help me along this journey, please donate.
