Support for a New Communications Trailer is Needed

Tax deductible
Mason County Search and Rescue is completely volunteer-driven and donor-funded. It is the generous donations of individuals and businesses that power this 100% volunteer, non-profit organization to save lives and bring closure to families. Join the mission, we need your help!

WHAT WE NEED

The main focus of our fundraising drive for the remainder of 2023 and into 2024 is a desperately needed Communications Trailer.

Communications Trailer – total cost $40,500

MCSAR is in need of a communications trailer to replace our current, aging vehicle (pictured above). In Search and Rescue, the Communications Trailer is the hub of support for a mission by providing the base of operations including mapping and planning computers, and critical radio communications setup for teams in the field. As technology has progressed, we will also benefit from the ability to set up Starlink Wi-Fi stations to effectively communicate with our field teams in locations without cellular service in which we frequently search.

The cost of $40,500 is to purchase the trailer and then outfit the interior with a variety of essential equipment including computers, radios, backup batteries, cabinets, specialized wiring, awnings, and workstations. This cost is for equipment only. All labor for the build-out will be donated.

We need your help!

Right now, we humbly ask that you give what you can to help us continue to be there for anyone whose day outside goes terribly wrong. In a time when so many need help, please choose to make a difference by joining our MCSAR supporters. Our supporters and volunteers are a team that, together, make a difference in our community.

MORE INFO: WHO WE ARE

Mason County Search and Rescue (MCSAR) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all-volunteer organization (EIN# 91-1587888) that was formed in 2015 to perform search and rescue operations, training, education, and preventative SAR. We are comprised of about 40 volunteers (and growing) who are on call 24/7/365 to search for the lost and the missing. We are organized into different units such as ESAR (ground search), Mobile/4x4, Operations/Planning, and K9 (search dogs).

Our team members are proficient in various areas of search and rescue including search planning and tactics, radio communications, map reading and compass techniques, wilderness survival, land navigation, GPS tracking systems, search theory, and CPR/Basic First Aid.

Mason County SAR’s Training Academy is conducted every year, prepping our members to serve the community on missions in Mason County and throughout the state.

Our primary response area is Mason County, but we frequently respond to mutual aid missions in other counties throughout the state such as Grays Harbor, Clallam, Kitsap, Thurston and Lewis, including the National Parks. We have deployed as far as Kittitas and Yakima Counties in Eastern Washington as well. We deploy anywhere in Washington State that we are needed and called.

Most recently, Mason County Search and Rescue led the efforts in finding a hunter lost more than seven days in the Mildred Lake area of the Olympic National Forest. Through the efforts of our search and rescue community and the support of donors like you, the hunter was found alive and returned to his family.

A recent Mason County Mission: Helo was called in for air support

We operate under the direction and control of the Mason County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Emergency Management. However, we are completely volunteer-driven and donor-funded. It is the generous donations of individuals and businesses in our community that power this 100% volunteer, non-profit organization to save lives. We need your help.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to MCSAR (masoncountysar.org/donation), this year, and consider donating every year. Know that your dollars are going to a great cause; know that your funds will be carefully and thoughtfully allocated to where they are most needed; and know that you are making a tremendous difference. Thank You Very Much.

Sincerely,
Keenan Kealey
Mason County Search and Rescue President
