Dear reader,
I live in the suburbs in Texas where it’s impossible to get around without a car. My check engine light has been on since November of 2025 because of a failing transmission which has been incredibly difficult because my car is my sole generator of income as a delivery driver, and I knew I wouldn’t be able to replace my transmission anytime soon as it was quoted to me at 4,000$ after labor. My car is now undriveable and in a few weeks my inspection stickers will be out without a chance of renewal meaning it will be illegal to have my car on the road.
On top of the car being a tool of invaluable practicality, it is also my lifeline for my mental and emotional health. I currently live with my parents—one who abused me physically. I have very limited emotional capacity and have tried to move many times but I’m only able to work part time right now and I don’t have enough money to move out independently. I have fought tooth and nail to find roommates or to move in with old friends or members of my family only to be rejected every time. My car was and is the way I maintained sanity and a life beyond my pain. I cannot stress this enough. Nothing would ever mean more to me than receiving help in this area of my life. This is the most sensitive, delicate, and crucial thing I need and that I could be helped with. My car is my infrastructure, it connects me to all my resources and ways to help myself financially and emotionally. I don’t want anyone to pay my way but to help me get in a position where I can help and provide for myself.
If I receive donations— I’m planning on combining the money with all of my savings to buy a new used car from the list I’m looking at on Facebook, either a Toyota corolla or a Honda civic. My Hyundai currently has 190,000 miles on it and I’ve evaluated that it would be more suitable to buy a new car with lower mileage than to repair my existing one.
Thank you so much for reading and any time, attention, and resources you’re able to dedicate to this fundraiser. I’ll be on my knees praying.
