The Unmasked Revolution: Rebuilding My Life at 37

Disclaimer to comply with GoFundMe campaign requirements: I am an individual raising funds for myself and my family. Immigrated to Israel from the UK 2010.

All funds raised go directly into our private family bank account to be used for the specific medical, vocational, and nutritional purposes listed above. There are no third-party organizations involved in the receipt or distribution of these funds.

A Note on Compliance.

I wish to state clearly that none of these funds are being used for any armed conflict efforts, defensive equipment, services for soldiers, or any political/security-related activities. This is a purely humanitarian and personal effort to support the health, vision, and financial recovery of a single family dealing with autism and bipolar disorder.

My name is Josh. I am 37 years old, and after a lifetime of confusion, masking, and surviving a world that felt like a cold, bureaucratic machine, I am finally beginning a genuine process of reconstruction.
For decades, I lived on autopilot, praying simply for rest—not because I wanted to leave this world, but because the sensory and emotional weight of it was too heavy to carry.
Today, for the first time, I am no longer praying for rest. I am building a life that is actually worth waking up for.

The Vision: Clarity and Regulation
Recently, I began a Spravato (Ketamine) treatment program. The result has been what I call "unrelieved clarity." For the first time, the "noise" of my autism has quieted, and I can see the path ahead.
But clarity isn’t just internal; it’s physical. I live with high myopia (-9.5 in both eyes). My "unmasked" future requires a stable, functional foundation. I am now raising funds for Laser Eye Surgery—not for vanity, but as a critical preventative measure against continued decline, ensuring I can be a present, capable father and provider for the next 50 years.

The Home: A "Low and Slow" Sanctuary
My wife, Elky, is also on her own journey of healing, applying for the Sal Shikum support system to manage her bipolar disorder and years of emotional exhaustion. Together, we are turning our home into a "regulating environment."

We’ve moved away from the chaos of processed, industrial "quick fixes." We believe in a "low and slow" kitchen—investing in real, wholesome food that nourishes our children and stabilizes our health. As Pesach approaches, I am seeking support to ensure we can meet these holiday needs with dignity, focusing on foundational nutrition rather than overpriced junk.

Today, I am no longer praying for rest. I am building a life that is worth waking up for.

The £200,000 Vision: Escaping the Rent Trap

I am setting a bold funding goal of £200,000. To some, this might seem like a high number, but for my family, it represents the difference between temporary relief and permanent stability.

For a neurodivergent family, the "rent trap" is more than just a financial burden—it is a sensory and emotional instability. Being at the mercy of landlords and shifting markets is a constant source of dysregulation. My ultimate goal is to build a safety net that allows us to secure a mortgage.
A home of our own isn’t a luxury; it is a regulating sanctuary. It is a place where we can control our environment, maintain our "low and slow" kitchen, and raise our children without the looming threat of displacement. This fund is the foundation of that safety net.

The Future: From Survival to the Driver’s Seat
I have officially moved away from "sheltered" work and toward a career that matches my specific cognitive strengths. My goal is to become a Professional Bus Driver. I have a deep capacity for systematic observation and a passion for road safety. To get there, I need to secure my car driver’s license—a two-year prerequisite for professional driving. This is my path to a career with dignity, purpose, and long-term financial independence.

Where Your Support Goes

I am not asking for a "bailout"; I am asking for an investment in a stable, regulated future. Your contributions will fund:

Financial Freedom: Clearing the overwhelming bank and credit card debt (£28,000+) that keeps my family in a state of constant survival mode.

Physical Vision: £5,000 for Laser Eye Surgery to stabilize my sight and long-term independence.

Vocational Growth: £2,000 for the driver’s license process, specialized medical tests, and professional training.

Health & Healing: Ongoing metabolic health support and supplemental treatments for both Elky and myself.

The Pesach Pantry: Ensuring our holiday is filled with the real food our family needs to stay healthy and regulated.

A Note on Accountability
I am taking every proactive step possible. This Sunday, I am meeting with a representative from Mekimi to explore structural debt solutions, including insolvency or bankruptcy. I am committed to getting stable as quickly as possible and being a father who is present, regulated, and hopeful.
Thank you for believing in the "Ancient Israel Romanticism" of my vision—a life built on ritual, transparency, and a house that smells of slow-cooked chicken and hope.
Thank you for helping me turn survival into a meaningful, unmasked life.
