We Are Raising Funds to Support Ashley’s Need for a New Arm
On the evening of Saturday, June 25th, Ashley was leaving a children’s birthday party when the car she was riding in spun into a concrete post, immediately severing her right arm. Luckily, her 5-year old child and the father who was driving were shaken but unharmed. A Good Samaritan was on the scene at Hillsboro Blvd. and Powerline Rd. in Deerfield Beach to assist until the paramedics arrived, providing Ashley comfort and conversation to maintain consciousness. The Good Samaritan later told us that even in her state of shock, Ashley had him help her make contact with her daughter’s school teacher who she had joined at the celebration that evening. It was the first birthday party her preschool daughter had ever attended.
After the accident, Ashley was rushed to North Broward Hospital where the incredible nurses, doctors, and staff worked around the clock to help ease the overwhelming pain and anguish. Within 24 hours, they had completed the first of what will be numerous surgeries. They are currently focused on finding enough skin to graft from somewhere else on her body that will serve to cover the area near her shoulder from where the arm was amputated.
Ashley's passion is cooking and she had aspirations to begin her food catering business while being the primary caretaker for her grandmother. She is 30 years old with 2 children, ages 5 and 10. While she has strong support from her mother and loved ones, the devastation of losing a dominant arm will impact every aspect of her life both immediately and forever into the future.
We have no doubt in her strength and resilience it will take to thrive in this sudden life change, and we want to make sure that this young mother and beautiful soul has the opportunity to continue helping others as she has done her whole life. There aren’t enough angels like her in the world and it is important to support the ones we do have. Anything helps and we are forever grateful for those that can assist. We will continue to provide updates as they come and thank you for your kindness and generosity - it is all so appreciated.
Per the GoFundMe guidelines, we must also share the following:
- The organizer of this page is a close family friend, Lisa Neumayer, who lives in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. with her two children and boyfriend. She has known Ashley's mother for the past 8 years and considers the Fyfes to be chosen family.
- All donations will go to Ashley and her family, with the funds to be used for expenses such as medical, living, legal, etc., etc., etc. This is a life-changing event with a lifetime of unknowns, and the projected funds needed are still yet to be realized.
- At the moment, the funds will be transferred to Lisa Neumayer's personal bank account and distributed to Ashley based on necessity and under the advice of legal counsel until further notice.
