Please help with cost of caregiving due to ALS

Dear Reader,

If you find yourself reading this, thank you for stopping to care and learn about Valinda.

I imagine it is because you know Valinda and she’s been a part of your life or at the very least, you’ve sampled her amazing creations as “The Fudge Lady” or know her as a long-time waitress at Dutchman’s Daughter Restaurant.

No matter the depth of your connection, I am certain she touched your life and has become a part of your story as much as you’ve become part of hers.

As a result, so many of you have asked and expressed concern about her health, how she is doing and how to pray for her.

I know that means the world to her.

In 2022 after a long search for answers regarding progressively concerning health issues, Valinda was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

The initial diagnosis was shocking but her positive demeanor and high spirits have not wavered. She has greeted each new challenge with faith and of course, lots of joking and laughter.

Valinda is a proud Veteran of The United States Navy and is thankful for the support she’s received through the VA. But as many of you know, ALS is an aggressive disease. Presently it has reached a point where she will be in need of caregivers 24/7.

I know she hates to ask for help but the quick progression of the disease and multiple lifestyle changes that have occurred as a result, have taken a toll.

Overall, I know she would greatly covet your prayers for strength to face the challenges ahead. But in a tangible way, I know she would appreciate any help and support you feel led to give to alleviate the burden of securing the care she finds herself needing at present.

Any gift, big or small would go a long way in showing Valinda love through the care she would receive as a result.
