"Song Nest" by Subho and Lucia - Help us record!
The first time we saw each other was at an all night concert of Indian classical music called Ragamala. The dancing tablas and singing sitar wove a colorful thread around us which continued to pull us ever closer until finally we have tied this thread of music around our hearts and fingers - we are married! 
Lucia is a violinist of many styles. She is the artistic director of Chicago Folklore Ensemble and has been accepted as a Fulbright Scholar and will be traveling to India for 9 months to learn music in at Shantiniketan, West Bengal. She has released 2 albums already and is soon to release a new album with Subho of songs by the legendary Rabindranath Tagore.
Subho is a research scientist and composer. He has written hundreds of beautiful melodies, and recorded over 50 songs. Lucia loves these songs so much and listens to them all the time.. but they have not been recorded with a band, and they need arrangements to have a bigger impact.

Gaaner Nir - "Song Nest" - will be an album of our arrangements of these songs. The lyrics are mostly written by our dear friend and poet Debajit Goswami in Bengali. We will include a poem booklet with the lyrics and translations into English as well as illustrations.
We will need your help to raise money for this album! We would like to record with some incredible musicians in Chicago, and pay them for their time and talent. Renting a studio and paying for mixing and mastering is all costly. We'd like to host a CD release party and invite you all to come hear the new music!
Our time frame is luxurious.. We are raising funds now, while Lucia goes to India to study music. When she comes back in August 2020, we will begin recording! Mixing and mastering will take several months. So, we should have the album ready for you by the spring of 2021!
We will be so grateful if you have a little to spare towards funding this adventurous album! A fusion of Bengali music and Western classical music, some flavors of Jazz and Arabic kneaded in to make a delectable listening experience.
Part of the proceeds of our album will go to a charity Subho and his friends started called Bidyang Dehi (http://www.bidyangdehi.org). This charity supports kids education in West Bengal, India. In this way we hope our music will help kids fly out from their nests!
