A mural for Angie
Donation protected
On June 1st, 2024 our community tragically lost Angie to suicide. Angie was 21 years old, Chicana / Mexicana who grew up in West Valley city Utah but spent a lot of her time in Jalisco Mexico. She was a Sister, Daughter and a home girl. Angie was always down to kick it and
unapologetically embraced her chicana style every time she went out. Angie was proud and humble at the same time. She was Charismatic, curious and aware with a lot of heart ! She always spoke her mind and was respected for addressing the truth. Angie was facing mental health issues that our community failed to recognize and respond to. Angies life and fate is a reflection and symbol of the young women that hurt in our community and the inequalities they may face. As time has gone by we can't let her be forgotten. Her image shall become a symbol that deserves to be portrayed on a mural so that we may raise awareness about mental health and suicide as a serious social issue every day. We will be partnering with our local Perez Market to make this mural possible, where it will be located.
