A Much Needed Gift for our Maasai Sisters

Tax deductible
Last month, we were filming the beautiful Maasai people in Kenya, as part of our new film on indigenous cultures around the world, the impact of colonialism, and the resilience of these cultures. One of our hosts, the powerful Maasai leader Nancy Milanoi, led us to visit her community Naretu Maa Emanyatta located in Esonorua village, Kajiado subcounty.

When we arrived at the village, we were greeted by over 200 women and men singing and dancing. As part of the welcoming ceremony, we touched each and every person and looked deeply into one another’s eyes. It was a heart-opening experience. We spent the rest of the day sharing food and learning about their culture and way of life.

We also heard about many of the community’s needs. One that quickly became apparent was access to sanitary menstrual pads. The supply we had brought as a gift was gone within seconds and the majority of women didn’t receive any. I felt horrible to have been so unprepared. We promised the community we would find a way to support them, beginning with addressing this issue.

One morning shortly after coming back home, I woke up inspired. What if I could enroll my girlfriends around the world in supporting this community of women? What if in turn, they enrolled their girlfriends? What better holiday gift than a present to another woman in need across the globe?

So here I am, with my friends and colleagues Lisa and Stacy, inviting you all to expand our holiday circle of care and help us gift our Maasai sisters with 400 reusable, washable, biodegradable, 100% cotton sanitary pads from the Kenyan organization https://padmadkenya.com

Together we can widen the circles of care and expand our hearts through this small offering.

With love and care,
Zaya, Lisa & Stacy

p.s. For those who offer over $200, we will send you a beautiful gift made by the Maasai women. (If this is you, click the "contact" button and send us an email with your address).
