I never thought I’d be writing something like this. Asking for help on the internet is not something I’ve ever done before, it’s a foreign and humbling experience to say the least. But today, I find myself in a position where I simply have no other choice. I’m turning to the kindness of strangers and community, in hopes that someone, somewhere, might be able to help me find my footing again.
I’m a mother of two young children. Like any parent, my biggest dream is to give them a stable, safe home. But right now, that dream feels so far away.
A few weeks ago, my life changed overnight. I had been renting a home, for which I was notified just a month before, was being ‘sold’ and we had to move. I did what any mother would do—I scrambled to find a new place under stress and short notice to keep a roof over our heads. I found what I believed to be a legitimate rental, but sadly, it turned out to be a scam. I lost thousands of dollars —money that was everything I had left. With that, I lost not just our next home, (the money I had invested into landscaping what I was made to believe would be a long term rental to which I was not reimbursed.) But it also cost me relationships, my budding small business, and my sense of security.
Since then, I’ve been displaced with my two children. I was a stay-at-home mom before this happened, without a car to rely on (mine broke down last year). I’ve applied for every form of housing and automotive assistance I could find, contacted charities, and reported the scam to authorities; but so far, nothing has come through and without a car, I don’t qualify for local ‘housing programs’.
This is why I’m here.
I’m asking, humbly, for help—not just for myself, but for my children. My immediate goal is to raise enough to purchase a reliable car. With transportation, I can start moving forward: find a job, get my children where they need to be, and begin saving to secure stable housing. A car isn’t just a vehicle for me; it’s the first step toward rebuilding our lives.
Anything you’re able to give, even the smallest amount, will help me take that first step toward: providing my children with the stability and home they deserve.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, sharing, or contributing. Your kindness truly has the power to change our lives.
With gratitude,
Saharai
