A Mother's Plea: Help After Tragedy

Thank you for reading my story. First, please keep in mind that I am an only parent to one son with no outside income, just my own. I am a mental health therapist that strives to help others as well.

In December 2024 I had a private medical issue that took me out of work for 1.5 weeks and then had a scheduled vacation of a week. I depleted my savings during this time with co-pays and sustaining bills. At that time I did take a small loan out from the company I work for which I have since paid back. In February I had a very close friend die and could not take time off of work due to having no savings and no ability to do so financially.

Last month my father passed away. Although he had struggled for years with his health it was very sudden and I took his last week of life off of work to be with him. He died on Friday and I was back at work for my next scheduled sessions on the next Tuesday. I had to then pay for an urn which I was not expecting to have to do as well as the week off.

I am struggling and have asked my company for a loan and they declined. Currently I am not able to take more time off and my son had a horrible accident last Friday where he bit almost entirely through his tongue and had to have an ER trip to the local ER and then was transferred to Iowa City ER for plastic surgery. We just got out of urgent care today for dehydration. The ER visits are $500 co-pays each and I simply cannot afford day-to-day bills at this point due to all the strain over the last few months. I also cannot have time off to process the multiple traumas and losses my family has endured or to care for my son.

Altogether, without any additional time off or any further medical expenses, this is the bare minimum to pay my bills for the next month, pay the rest of my dad’s urn, and pay the co-pays already incurred. I’ve tried every way I can to make this work on my own and this is just the highlight reel of many battles that have come our way in the last 7 months. Any contribution is appreciated and prayers are such blessings currently. We praise Jesus this has not been worse and wait expectantly for His provision.
