A Matriarch’s Memorial- Laura Jones

Hello.

I am Pete- a proud son of Laura Ester Jones. She is the mother of five boys and one girl. We are so grateful that she just celebrated her 85th birthday on 12/22!! For most of her life, she resided in Brooklyn, New York until she sold her house in 2006 ultimately landing in Lexington, SC with the purchase of her current house. My mother is a person that would always give what she had. She fed, clothed and provided shelter to many people throughout her life. Although she worked hard as a single parent, it was never hard for her to give. She was a tough woman. A proud one. And she loved in the ways she knew how to.

As of early December 2022, she has been diagnosed with stage-4 Ovarian Cancer that has spread to her lungs. Yesterday, I was told her condition had not only gotten worse, but we only have about a week left to show her how much we love her. A mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, cousin, friend- our Matriarch, will be leaving us soon.

We are coming together as a unit with the resilience we were raised with. We understand who is most important here and that’s God. We know HE will help us a create a clear path to do what’s right for mom. If by chance you may find yourself with a spare moment, please keep our family in your prayers and share this for her. If by chance you may be able to help, please know that in the very least, we are grateful for the time you gave us to read this.

In her final requests, mom asked to be placed in a wall with the ashes of her late son, Michael, by her side. All donations will be used to pay for the funeral expenses for Ms. Laura Jones when the time comes.
